Orban’s motto is ‘Learn to Live!’ We succeed when each learner at Orban loves learning, and learns to live. Orban’s aim is to develop a healthy self-esteem in each learner while fostering his or her unique individuality.
We want each of our learners to have the confidence to achieve all they are capable of. However, in doing so, we do not focus exclusively on competition, but strongly encourage cooperation. Both these skills will be required of our children in future when they venture forth into adult life.
Productivity, relationships and happiness suffer in an environment where competition is the only goal, whereas it thrives where cooperation is valued. When healthy, happy, productive children become adults in loving relationships, society will be better off.Orban is a Christian-based private school with both Afrikaans and English teaching streams.
Although we are Christian-based, our learners adhere to many different religions.
We are proud of the multicultural character of our school:
The Orban family comprises many different languages and cultural backgrounds, reflecting South African society. We give our children an enormous advantage by raising them in a bilingual school community. They are at home in the wonderful and challenging diversity of our country and, indeed, the world.
Orban is situated in Westdene, nestled in the beautiful Melville koppies. The school places particular emphasis on art, music and drama. This means that every child takes part in an amazing concert each year. All primary school learners also take part in the Eisteddfod, which Orban has won seven years running (in its region).
Sport has grown exponentially since Playball has assumed responsibility for the coaching. Orban now participates in leagues in cricket, hockey, soccer, softball, netball, cross-country and athletics.
The main activity at Orban remains education. We employ only highly-qualified teachers and we maintain a relationship with the University of Johannesburg’s teaching faculty to ensure that Orban is abreast of the latest in educational research. We are always looking for innovative ideas which can meaningfully improve our learners’ experiences and skills.
Our classes are capped at 20 learners, including pre-primary school. Then there’s fun. Children learn much more when they are having fun. Not only do we ensure that there are many fun activities which are incorporated into the classroom, we also value fun outside of it.
We go on outings, have market days, dress up, go on tour, bury time capsules and then dig them up again six years later and much more.We would love you to join our family. Please visit our website and make an appointment to meet us.
