Description

We offer select packages that can be tailored to suit every individual need, whether it is a celebration with close friends and family; or a corporate brain storming session. The Lodge is situated on the edge of a dramatic valley, overhanging the Taaibos River and overlooks stunning, billion-year-old cliffs.

Taaibos River Lodge is located in the acclaimed Welgevonden Game Reserve which is situated in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Welgevonden shares a boundary with SANP’s Marakele National Park and is home to most of Africa’s famous wildlife, with over 50 mammal species, including the big five, and over 250 birds species. The reserve is dominated in the north by spectacular sandstone cliffs and deep river valleys; contrasted by a southern area that is dominated by large expanses of open savannah grassland. The topography thus varies from rolling hills and flat mountain tops, with a high point of 1760 meters; to large open areas that provide spectacular game viewing and birding opportunities.

The quick-changing landscape offers a wide variety of habitats and consequently a broad spectrum of bird and animal species.Several unique features set Welgevonden apart, such as the low human density, due to strict access control. The Reserve is about 2½ hours' drive from Johannesburg (and O R Tambo International Airport); and is in a malaria-free area, which makes year-round visits possible.

We offer you your own private and exclusive use safari home in the Welgevonden Game Reserve where all activities can be tailor-made to suit your needs.Game drives can be taken at prearranged times and can even include bush braai’s (African barbecue) and picnic lunches.Meals can be presented from casual, private and cosy buffet-style occasions to indulging, full-service, plated events. An extensive wine cellar, together with an exotic collection of whiskeys, cognacs and liqueurs complement our delicious fare.

There is no set routine for meal-times or game drives – these are adjusted, within reason, according to our guests’ whims and needs.
