ABOUT THE DUNCAN STUDIO OF CELTIC DANCE

The Duncan Studio has been offering Irish and Highland dance classes in the Sandton area since 1988 under the guidance of Sue Theron. The studio emphasises a love for dance and provides an environment in which children can learn and grow through dance.

The studio offers classes for both competitive and non-competitive dancers from the ages of 4 all the way through to adult classes.Competitive dancing is only one aspect of the studio and all dancers are encouraged to undertake grade examinations which encourage personal skill and self-confidence.

Other than involvement in exhibitions and displays for corporate events, dancers are also encouraged to participate at fundraisers and community events and the studio also sponsors a number of lesser advantaged children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to dance.

Duncan Studio dancers have achieved much success both locally and abroad, having travelled to America, Ireland, England and Scotland competing in events such as the All Ireland Championships and World Championships over many years.

Sue is supported in teaching by former pupil, Bernard van der Kuil, who qualified as a teacher in 2015.The studio has it's home in Paulshof, Sandton but offers classes at St Theresa's in Rosebank and Craighall as well as Crawford College Primary School in Lonehill.

Together Bernard and Sue invite and encourage any interested children (and parents) to join our Duncan Donut family of dancing and to immerse yourself in Irish and Highland culture.
